This is the most important part, it is the "backbone" of a website. It is used for structure and so browsers know what to show.

 CSS
 This is the most recent technology for "spicing" up a webpages visual look. It adds styles to elements, and allows to separate the content from the presentation (the way it looks).

 Php
 A server side scripting language which is one of the most commonly used in designing dynamic websites. It is a powerful language, easy to learn, and works on any platform.

 MySQL
A powerful database server system which is widely used with Php.

 Javascript - AJAX

 A scripting language used to add some effects to webpages. Has become a trend today with AJAX which allows an website to change content without the page being refreshed. It is used to enhance the user experience.

I start by gathering information with the help of the Clients about, existing reference sites that they would like their site to look like, the functions they would need.

Then I take some time on my own, to work on some propositions and propose them to the Clients. Once an idea has gotten interest, we then start working with it. I develop the site, and let the Client take a look, give me feedback, and this is repeated until the design is finished.

For certain types of requests of which I am possibly not used to (never done before) or not very experienced in, I will take some time to do some research on the matter.

No. It is not necessary for us to meet, especially when you are an international client (outside of switzerland). We can work by email, a chat application (such as msn) and phone is also an option when necessary.

Every design I do is tested with Firefox (Mozilla) and Internet Explorer 7.0 and 8.0, and Safari. For other browsers I cannot guarantee the website will have the same look, but all browsers can read the designs I make. I dont check my design in Internet Explorer 6.0 every time as this browser is very old, however, if you or your targeted users use it, then I will make sure the site works well in this browser.

There is no exact answer as a design is unique for each project. It depends on the type of site, number of pages, amount of database use required, if a back-end is to be implemented, and if a special request was asked or something I have never programmed before which required time for me to find out about and implement. This will also depend on the how quickly the Client can respond to my questions when necessary, if payments are on time, and how many clients I am working with.
